CSS stands for Cascading Style Sheet. Cascading means that you can make more than one CSS style sheet for your single HTML document. It is a markup language just like HTML. CSS in short adds style to your HTML document.

If you go by the name CSS it explains everything. It enhances and personalizes your HTML. It adds color, texture, and layout to the text and content. The colors and layout you see on any website are through CSS on HTML.

To learn CSS one has to understand HTML no matter what, the reason is that both the languages go hand in hand to develop web pages. Where HTML makes the text, CSS furnishes it. Think of HTML as a house and CSS as the paint, windows, and the doors of the house. It decorates your website. It is very handy as you don’t have to make any major changes in your HTML to create CSS.

CSS as well is very effortless, you can use it even in notepad or any other editor you want.

To begin with CSS, it is very important to know about its basic features. Starting with,

CSS has curly brackets

{  } Brackets that look like this

Semicolons ( ; ) play a huge role in this, for example

 p {
background-color: blue;
font-color: black
}

The semi-colon here divides or breaks the command and separates it, if you don’t do this it will simply ignore the command you’re giving to CSS. A semi-colon is simply a substitute for NEXT.

And colon on the other hand is also working as a command, CSS is commanding or describing the background color to be blue with the help of colon.

So far the given information is sufficient for an introduction to Cascading Style Sheet. There is much more to CSS and other properties to know about it before actually beginning, nevertheless this is sufficient to know the definition and how, to begin with CSS.
